The edit continues…and boy things change a-lot!

This week, the film went from 2 hour and 20 minutes to 3 hours & 55 minutes back to 1 hour & 50 minutes all in effort to tell the best story, re-examine older segment etc… with all this said I still think that a 75 to 90 minute version will be the best in the end…plus it leaves more awesome DVD extras:)

Regardless we are in good shape to complete a wonderful film!!!!

There are many who have emailed me recently, however, I am having a problem with my outgoing email -as always even if takes some time- I will get back to you!

Please tell a new friend, today, that there is “Something You Should Know”

Rocking the edit,

M

p.s. in response to several emails yes our “official interviews and hours shot” has changed quite a bit because of MSG and some late celebrity interviews etc…I have not done an exact tally yet but I would say approx 188 hours shot, 800 Interviews,& thousands of new friends!

Duranies RULE!!!!!!

Last night in NYC was awesome. We saw so many friends that we have met during our 2 year journey and so many new ones!!!
Everytime I turned around there were friends from all over Canada, England, the US, The Dominican Republic etc…Everyone, I spoke with was thrilled to be at MSG to celebrate this monumental success for DD. After the show, I meet a bunch of amazing fans at the Roosevelt hotel party. I am constantly blown away by the community, the friendships, the stories, the memories and the support you all offer to me and the film. So many people came up to me just to say “I registered and wanted to say hi” or “were all behind you” or “we believe in the film” etc… THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR MAKING ME FEEL APART OF THE FAMILY! YOU are why I am making this film!

With lots of love to all my old and new duranie friends,

M.Douglas

“Something You Should Know” Mission & Edit Update #1

Dear Friends of Mine from 47 countries,

Thank you all for registering!

This is my first letter to the huge global audience who have registered on www.fansonfilm.com . I wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress of the film and our mission to unite Duran Duran fans from around the world. As always a registered fan will receive this info before someone who simply visits the news page without registering.

As you can imagine, I am thrilled that thousands of fans are registering daily from everywhere, especially because we have not
advertised our site in anyway to search engines or previewed any material on the site etc… This massive outpouring of support is all a direct result of the Duranie nation uniting to support this mission & this film. I think it is incredible what united we can accomplish. I continue to greatly appreciate your effort in spreading the word, however, please keep emailing, telling your friends about the film & to register, so your wonderful “Careless memories” will be preserved forever. Also, I am very curious to see how many people have friends inother countries that you might not have thought about until now.

Our registered Fans on Film fans come from the following 47 countries:

Afghanistan,Argentina,Australia,Austria,Brazil,Belgium,Bulgaria,Canada,Chile,China,Costa Rica, Croatia,Denmark, Estonia,
Ireland,Finland,Greece,France,French Polynesia, Germany, Hungary,Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia,
Macedonia,Mexico,The Netherlands,New Zealand,Norway,Peru,Philippines,Poland,Portugal,Romania,Serbia/Montenegro, Russia, Slovakia,Slovenia,Spain,Sweden,Thailand, Turkey,United Kingdom,and the United States

Now the edit update:
In the editing process, we have made many painful decisions in an effort to make the best film possible in a 75 to 90 minute feature.Typically, in film post production, we create what we call “WORKPRINTS”- these are the multiple versions of multiple edits or ideas where the goal is to find how your film flows, if it tells the story in a complete way, and if you “feel it”. Every post person has there own method-I usually “work print” 5 versions before I call it officially a rough cut and have basic “picture lock” . So here is where we stand officially: I am currently on Work print Version 4 now, it has a running time of 2 hours and 20 minutes and we will be reducing even farther to reach our story, time goals, and pure picture lock.

So now there truly is “Something You Should Know” ! and the DVD extras
in production are very very cool !!!

Thank you again,

M.Douglas

p.s. Media from everywhere has been contacting us re: the film, I was interviewed by a major us syndicated news service with 2,500 outlets to air in sync with the film release, plus KROQ-LA has mentioned our film 5 times in the last month thanks to midday jock Kat Korbett , etc…Feel free to share this email with anyone who you feel would want to read it.
